PRACTICAL GUIDE
Remove duplicate lines without changing their order
Paste a list with one item per line. The first occurrence is kept; the options change how lines are compared, not the content that remains.
How to remove duplicate lines
- Paste or type a list with one item on each line.
- Choose whether to ignore letter case, leading and trailing spaces, or blank lines when comparing.
- Review the result: the first occurrence stays, and you can copy it or download it as a TXT file.
- Choose whether uppercase and lowercase letters should be treated as different.
- When edge spaces are ignored, “ pear ” and “pear” compare equally, but the retained line keeps its original spacing.
- When blank lines are kept, all remain in their positions. If removed, whitespace-only lines are removed too.
- Windows, Unix and old Mac line breaks are accepted. Output uses Unix (LF) line breaks and keeps a final line break when result content remains; it does not add an extra content line to the statistics.
