JPEG is often useful for photos; PNG keeps transparency; WebP supports lossy or lossless compression depending on the browser.
Tip: What happens to transparency with JPEG?
JPEG cannot store transparent areas. If you convert an image that may contain transparency, those areas are composited over white.
