How to compress an image
Choose JPEG, PNG or WebP, adjust quality when available and compare the actual original and output sizes. Processing re-encodes pixels but does not silently change the format or dimensions.
An optimized 173 KB JPG may produce a 765 KB copy when re-encoded at 100%. Compare both sizes; you can download the original or explicitly choose the processed version.
Re-encoding a small or optimized image can add data. Sizes are compared in exact bytes; if the output grows, a warning appears and you can download the unchanged original. Quality 100% does not guarantee a minimum-size file or lossless encoding.
